hike1.tif (47600 bytes)Great Smoky Mountains National Park -- The Inn overlooks the Park and serves as base from which you can enjoy all that this natural vacation wonderland has to offer.  You can hike many miles of trails with their breathtaking vistas, picnic beside streams and waterfalls, and observe the Park's wildlife, including the largest variety of birds found in the United States.

Horseback Riding -- Rentals are available for guided riding on designated trails in the Smokies.

 

parkway.tif (162406 bytes)Blue Ridge Parkway -- 469 miles of scenic highway from the southern entrance in Cherokee, 10 minutes from the Inn.

Fontana Dam and Reservoir -- Highest dam in eastern America.   Several marinas and public landings provide access to excellent fishing and boating.

 

bikepic2.tif (130590 bytes) Mountain Biking -- Trails abound in the Smokies.  The famous Tsali   Mountain Bike Trails are just 20 minutes from the Inn.

Trout Fishing -- Some of the best in the country.  You can even use your mountain bike to reach those secluded streams.

 

dancer.tif (125670 bytes)Cherokee Indian Reservation -- Several attractions including the outdoor drama "Unto These Hills" presented evenings June through August; Oconoluftee Indian Village, recreating authentic Indian lifestyles as practiced over 200 years ago;  the Museum of the Cherokee Indian; and the recently opened Harrah's Casino.

Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest -- The largest stand of virgin hardwood remaining in eastern America.

Golf -- A spectacular course, the Smoky Mountain Golf Club, is minutes from the Inn.  Several other courses are close by.                                   

Shopping and Antique Hunting -- Bryson City has some fine shops, and "shopping headquarters", the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, is a 45 minute scenic drive from the Inn.

Biltmore House, Gardens and Winery --  The 255 room mansion, the Asheville home of George Vanderbilt, is a favorite day trip from the Inn.
